Worming

From two weeks of age to three months old a puppy should receive a suitable veterinary prescribed wormer every two weeks.

How regularly your puppy will need to be wormed after that depends on the level of risk of becoming infected with parasites that their lifestyle has. The following is a basic guideline:

  • From 3 months to 6months old worm every month.
  • From 6 months on, worm every 3 months.

Flea treatment

Again, how regularly your puppy will need flea treatment depends on the level of risk of becoming infested with parasites that their lifestyle has. A general guideline is a puppy should be given flea treatment every 6-8 weeks from 8 weeks of age.

Neutering

We recommend that you get your pup neutered if you do not plan to breed from them. If you do plan to breed from them, discuss health care screening with your vet or veterinary nurse.

Vaccinations

Vaccination is an important preventative health care step for your puppy. It can begin once they are 6 weeks of age.

Microchipping

If you purchased your puppy from a breeder it legally should be microchipped with the breeder's details. We can organise transfer of ownership for you. However, if you did get a puppy that was not microchipped - don't panic!- we can still microchip the puppy for you.

Insurance

We highly recommend that you get your puppy insured. Depending on which policy you choose the majority of the cost of emergencies and illness will be covered.

There are many benefits to having your pet insured. Shop around and get the best policy for you.

Food

Nutrition is vitally important at every stage of your dog's life. They should always be fed a complete balanced diet.
