Kitten and cat vaccinations

The process of vaccinating your kitten can begin at 9 weeks of age.

The following is a guideline for a kitten's initial course of vaccines:

9 Weeks:

CORE vaccine incl. FeLV

12 weeks:

CORE vaccine incl. FeLV

WE PROVIDE THE GOLD STANDARD AS OUR BASIC CAT VACCINE. IT INCLUDES PROTECTION AGAINST FELINE LEUKAEMIA VIRUS (FELV)  FELV - WHAT IS IT?

Two main reasons we provide this level of cover as standard:

Number 1

It is an unfortunate circumstance, but we are seeing an increasing level of kittens and cats presenting as positive for FeLV once tested by our team in house.

Number 2

We want to provide the best level of care as our standard. It is comforting for us to know that we have provided your pet with the best chance against contracting FeLV.

If your kitten or cat is of an unknown FeLV or Feline Immmunodeficiency Virus (FIV)  status before vaccination, and they are suspected of being positive for either viruses, we do recommed a quick SNAP® blood test to assess whether they are positive or not. This enables our team to establish your pet's status and in turn allow us to help you plan accordingly.

Unfortunately there are no vaccines for FIV. FIV - What is it?

Your cat should receive an annual booster to ensure their immunity remains at a protective level.

PLEASE DON'T PANIC if your pet doesn't fit into the above guideline. We appreciate that every pet's circumstances can be different, so we will work out a vaccine schedule to ensure your pet is covered. Book an appointment or give us a call to discuss any queries.  We're here to help!
